6 Apps every grocery mama needs to check out
March 12, 2018
Hi Everyone!
We’re back from a bit of a hiatus. As you’ve probably guessed, my little penguin and I travel quite a bit. At this point I think I’ve gotten the travel part down to a T. Unfortunately I’m no longer the mom who says no to the iPad but we do try to put some time restrictions (Sorry I laughed so much at this, my toddler gives a hoot about restrictions 😆)
This time our travels have us moved to the East Coast and we had the chance to experience the gorgeous peaceful life for a bit.
Anyhow the move and the toddler has our budget all upside down. I do try to coupon but let’s face it, we never have the coupons for the things we need or buy the things we have coupons for. Most logical thing here is to buy what you have the coupon for if you’re budgeting. Makes sense if you’re not too concerned about. Here’s a couple grocery stores app that seem to be doing something right.
1. Jewel Osco My Mixx
I do tend to join grocery store rewards programs because they tend to have a lot of perks for members. For instance Jewel Osco always offered free food items to try every other weekend as well as gas rewards which I availed to my heart’s content (More on Jewel Osco’s Gas Rewards ). Plus all the coupons are already in the app and you just need to clip them on from your phone. With produce it always made sense to stock up however much you can during their sale days. Check out their great app, they usually have free sampler items every other Saturday!
2. Cartwheel by Target
Target’s Cartwheel has it’s own perks too but again I’m not a huge fan of clipping out paper coupons and their app just didn’t have enough of the coupons/offers that attracted me. Sure they ran the $5 Target gift card with certain items which I did use or their $ off on a certain threshold. But by far too few offers for me to try.  If you’re clipping paper coupons then use them with Cartwheel for better savings. Actually I believe they recently integrated their Target App with Cartwheel so do check it out and don’t forget to upgrade to the new App (Target’s Cartwheel ).  PS. their Dollar spot is my hangout so you know you always have to check that out first.
3 & 4. Food Lion & Dollar General
In the East Coast I’ve seen alot of Food Lion, Harris Teeter and of course the Dollar Generals. I’ve signed up for all. Food Lion’s App (More on Food Lion’s MVP) uses digital coupons very similar to how Dollar General (More on Dollar General) does.
5. Harris Teeter’s VIC
Harris Teeter is more along the lines of separate pricing for Members versus everyone else (More on Harris Teeter’s VIC). Again for that getting paper coupons maybe a better incentive for savings.
6. Valli Produce
I’ve recently started dabbling with Valli Produce‘s App and it’s not bad. Valli Produce (More on Valli Produce) is more for folk around the Chicagoland area. It’s a pretty awesome store since they have pretty much everything! They upload their weekly offers and coupons. Since it’s already moderately priced, having the coupons is an awesome deal!
