Father’s Day Gift Guide

I know I know I’m all about the mommy and pretty much ignoring the poor daddy (oh boohoo). But that is so not the case.. I just have a lot more to say on this matter 🙂

But yes getting a Father’s Day gift can be tricky. If this is specifically from your little one than I can certainly help in narrowing the list down 🙂

Foot or Hand print

This is normally for a newborn/infant imprint but I’ve used it for multiple things. I picked one up from Michael’s. Most recently to get a key imprint on for our house (yay!). And it worked like a charm…trick is to let the gel set slightly before putting in any object or imprint in. Otherwise you will be waiting for a couple minutes (yup  that how low my patience level is). With a toddler you can actually cut out small individual letters to spell out anything Happy Father’s Day etc whatever fits in the frame.  Print or write it down in block form. Cut out the individual letters and place them in reverse (think mirror writing) on the gel when it gets in a semi solid state. Push the letters in enough to create a slight indentation but make sure the letters are visible to you when peeling them off.

Once the gel sets, peel off each letter. Prepare the Plaster mixture (pour in enough water for a smooth consistency. Pour it over the gel in the mold and let it set for a couple hours.

When set, gently pull pack at the plaster and remove it from the mold. Peel off the gel and you should be able to see a slight imprints of the letters.  Color it in and you’re good to go!

Daddy Coupons/Passes

This can be fun ones. Or well fun for Dad at least,  You can have as many and as few coupons as you like.

What you will need:

  1. 1-2 Card-stocks (any color that you like)
  2. Punching machine
  3. Scissors
  4. Twine
  5. Glue (optional)
  • Fold the Card stock paper in half, slide your finger across the crease to give it depth.
  • Fold it in half again and slide your finger across the crease again.
  • Repeat one more time.
  • Now cut along the crease on the paper. This should yield 8 rectangle sized papers (or coupons). If you need more just repeat the exercise on another card stock.
  • Line all the coupons together like a deck of cards.
  • Use the punching machine to make two holes on one side.
  • Cut out a piece of twine and run it through each hole.
  • Tie it on one end.
  • If you want the twine knot to stick in place then add glue to the card stock and press the knot on to. Lay it under a heavy book for pressure. Once the glue is dry you can start filling in the coupons.

Now you can have whatever kind of coupon/pass messages you want. Here are a couple fun ideas:

  1. You are excused from Diaper Changing duties for the day
  2. Go to a game card – no conditions apply
  3. Not Making dinner tonight card
  4. Extra toppings of hugs, kisses and cuddles for Dad
  5. Free pass to tell old highschool/college/childhood stories
  6. Sleep in late Pass
  7. Dad’s favorite restaurant Pass
  8. Access to the remote all day

I would love to see what you come up with!

ShutterFly

Okay so this has been my go to for the past 2 years since I’m always late (I can see that smirk!) and picture gifts are adorable.

If you’re out of ideas and most likely time check out all the possibilities at Shutterfly  (Use code TWENTYOFF for extra 20% off through 6/12)

Tools

If DIY and projects are right up Dad’s alley then getting the right tool set may be the best gift. You can start asking if he needs or plans on changing any of his current set. Look up the brand he has and switch out to the latest one. Easy peasy! Sears has a pretty great selection so check them out here!

Golf

If Dad’s into golf then of course new golf shirts and accessories are must! A friend of mine told me that she sometimes uses to look up for her husband to go to. You get a great deal and Dad gets to enjoy his day!

Books

There are ton of amazing reads out there (I need to get my hands on some, if only I can find the time!). I’m telling you from a die hard book lover’s perspective – a good read is worth so much! I specifically requested for some books and some time to read those books (Ha that’s where those coupons will come in handy!). Since I’m sure you’re crunched for time, here’s a good starting point from Amazon’s most popular and most sold reads and New York Time’s Best Sellers. I’m personally pinning for the Stephen King’s The Outsider. I can’t wait to get my hands on it!

Hamilton Beach Breakfast Sandwich Maker

This is a true winner if you know what I mean, “Wink Wink, Nudge Nudge”.

Not only is this compact but the family gets to score a yummy breakfast out of it too. Win Win!!

If all else fails, you know food will be a definite winner. A nice delicious meal, lots of hugs and letting dad do what he loves to do.
