GoodBye Toys – Where Saying GoodBye Today Gives Children a New Tomorrow

Being a parent has taught me one thing, no amount of space is ever enough with the amount of ‘stuff’’ you accumulate over time. Bribing with toys becomes a huge part of this whole scenario and you end up with toys and knick knacks that you’re forever picking off the floor.  Especially as they grow older very rarely are we able to give away the things we no longer use. Either we hold on to it for sentimental reason but more likely than not we hoard. Which is why that car is never inside the garage.

Back in August 2017, Mary, faced the same dilemma, Being a teacher (with over ten years of teaching experience, so she knows what she’s doing) and a mom, she quickly grasped the problem. Especially when it came to having more stuff than the humans living in the house can handle. Being so closely associated with children, she and her husband decided to come up with a waste-free and essentially a useful way to say GoodBye to the accumulated baby and kids gear. All the while the focus was to be able to help others as well. That was the light bulb moment and GoodBye Toys was born.

The main aim for GoodBye Toys is to be a fundraising site to help children and teens in need.

GoodBye Toys

GoodBye Toys has a very unique and definitely a useful proposition on their site for parent, caregivers, guardians or people in general as well as businesses. It’s a unique platform that lets people and businesses buy and sell new and gently used baby, children, teens and even maternity products.

Being a parent, I personally think this is an awesome way to generate a little extra income plus giving back to the community at the same time! Actually, you don’t even need to be a SAHP to make use of this platform. If you have ‘stuff’ that needs a new home (You know you do. Take it out from that secret ‘storage’ stash that you hoard!), you can just do that from the comfort of your own home!  At the same time, be able to purchase items sometimes even at a fraction of the original cost!

Think of it as the perfect forum for putting up your resale/preloved ‘stuff’ as well as new products that you want to be able to sell and may be even buy.

GoodBye Toy’s desire to do something for the youth will definitely be helping out a lot of families including your own. You know that storage room that I was talking about earlier? Well GoodBye Toy’s is an initiative to help solve that and essentially give others a chance to experience those same lovely products. Not only will you have a clutter free life, you’ll be making another family much happier and hopefully pocket some $$ on the way!

How GoodBye Toys Will be Helping Out

Children charities and schools can hold fundraiser on this site. In addition to that, schools and/or charities can sign up for fundraiser with GoodBye Toys; families can then sell and donate half of their sales to that school and/or charity.  GoodBye Toys then take that money and send 60-70 cents of every dollar that they receive to that school and/or charity. The other 30-40 cents go towards helping children in the community!

Imagine the possibilities of helping out others at the same time as yourself! That’s really amazing!

Getting Started

You can register to either Buy or signup or to just Buy & Sell  Currently there are 3 membership plans that you choose to register on the site. It’s extremely easy to set up.  You can either register as a buyer or a seller or even both. 4 easy steps and you’re good to go.

Step 1: Register an account.   All you need to register is an active email, your name, and phone number – your personal information will be not be shared with anyone, it’s for registration and GoodBye Toy’s platform use only. Once you register, within 24 hours you will receive an email informing you that your account has been activated. Just make sure you register with a PayPal email account because that’s how you get paid!

Step 2:  Upon account activation you will be able to log on and be directed to a Seller Dashboard (See below). To start selling click Product Manager and Add Product

Step 3: Simply upload the pictures and description of your products – as an individual you will simply be filling up the:

  • Title
  • Descriptions – Pour in the details. Be as descriptive as possible so that the prospective buyer knows exactly what they are getting. Plus best to mention if it’s a pickup and what the location is
  • Price
  • Categories
  • Tags – For search purposes
  • Upload Images

For a business/stores, there are additional fields such as SKU numbers, run sales, track inventory etc. Individual sellers can leave these fields blank.

As a seller, you can ship your item or set up a meeting location.  If you choose to meet your buyer, you should mention it in the description. Something along the lines of, this is a pick up item and state what School District(s) you are willing to meet the buyer  in for a local pick up.

Step 4: Check your Dashboard, when products sell, we request you ship them within 7 days.  Once you have tracking numbers, you can share this information with the buyer. Plus you’ll receive an email once an item has been purchased.

For Buyers

As a buyer, you have two options, you can continue as a guest or you can create an account.  We accept credit cards and PayPal accounts.  By creating an account you will have access to more features, such as, writing reviews on sellers, viewing tracking information, and seeing your past purchases.

So as long as your items are kid-friendly & not hazardous in any shape or form, you can say GoodBye (!) to them! And simply post it on the site! Really it’s that easy.

You Ask, They Answer

I’m sure you have tons of questions so to make it easy for you, they have a blog that helps you set up as well as give you some great tips.

Another way you can get some great answers is by checking out their FAQs .

There is a great starting up tutorial in the Seller dashboard (after you have registered of course!) called the Knowledgebase. It’s an easy to follow video and will help you put up your products for sale in a jiffy.

Plus be sure to check out the tutorials they have prepared in the dashboard.

Important Tips

Bear in mind that buyers and sellers are responsible for the pick up and delivery of items. If it’s a local meet up, be sure to always meet at a central public place.. I’ll be looking to share a couple guidelines on how to do that. Or you may see it pop up on GoodBye Toys ‘s own blog!  And Yes!  It’s going to be full of fun parenting tips, family activities and of course updates on GoodBye Toys! Be sure to keep up with their updates on Facebook and Instagram. I have a toddler so I cannot get enough of the fun kids toys and gear that they post. Each time I look there’s some incredible gear that I have to have!

Good Things Ahead

In the upcoming few months GoodBye Toys aim to launch a few more surprises.  They will be designed to help children and small businesses thrive in various shapes and forms. So keep an eye out and follow them, because in the next couple of years you would want a best friend like GoodBye Toys !

Just recently in August/September, GoodBye Toys Charity held a school supply drive with HealthQuest Physical Therapy Macomb locations. They collected over $1,000 worth of donations and dropped them off at 2 schools in Macomb County, Michigan! Such a wonderful gift, and right on time for Back To School!

You will be able to claim tax deductions on your donations with the advent of Goodbye Toys Charity.  They will be adding more details as this is a fairly recent development, but until that is done, feel free to find out more about that at www.Goodbyetoyscharity.org.

So get ready to have a super clean house and hopefully some moula on the way. I know I have a few things I’m ready to put up! Meanwhile go ahead and stalk GoodBye Toys on their Social Media channels for all the fun updates, tips and see how we can change the world of the youth! Follow them at Facebook, Instagram and of course their Blog!
